LAKE ISEO CHRISTO: A FLOATING PIER ON THE WATER
Lake Iseo Christo. Have you ever imagined the sensation you have while walking on the water? Probably not. But artists are able to imagine impossible things and make them real. And Christo did it.
From June 18th to July 3rd 2016 he will create one of his works of art on the Lake Iseo, entitled The Floating Piers.
It’s one of the last works Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude (died in 2009) conceived, and after surveys, feasibility studies and search for sponsors, it will be finally created.
A pedestrian walkway 4,5 kilometres long in the middle of the Lake Iseo, made up of 70,000 square meters of yellow fabric and supported by a floating dock system of 200,000 poly-ethylene cubes will undulate with the movement of the waves. The installation will be completely free of charge 24 hours a day, in order to allow everybody to “live” Christo’s work of art and have the chance to be rocked by the waves of the lake.

The Floating Piers is absolutely free and accessible 24 hours a day, weather permitting.
There are no tickets and no reservations. The Floating Piers are an extension of the street.
