The art of Andrea Prandi ranges freely from canvas painting to illustration, through to photography and digital art, screenplay and film direction. In his most recent production, “The Four Seasons of the Soul” (Le Quattro Stagioni dell’Anima), the artist combines video art and photography to tell the evolutionary story of the soul as it changes over time in its constant search for itself.
Andrea Prandi has continued his The Four Seasons of the Soul series with an ambitious project that combines video art with a complex film installation called The Blossoming Soul (L’Anima in Fiore), which was presented on 12 May on the occasion of the 57th Venice Biennale, in the Guatemala National Pavilion.
I asked the artist a question about his work.
The central work of the Guatemala Pavilion at the Venice Biennale is “L’Anima in Fiore” (“The soul in Bloom”) by Andrea Prandi.
He’s an Italian artist who creates works which are a combination of video art and installation. Each work he creates is a research centered on the invisible, primordial questions human beings have always harboured inside their soul.
Between reality and illusion, between truth and mystery, Andrea Prandi describes a magical world. I asked him to explain me the meaning of the artwork he displays in Venice.
Caterina Art post Blog: Talk about your work you displayed at the Venice Biennale 2017 at the Guatemala Pavilion.
Where did you draw your inspiration from to create it?
Andrea Prandi : In life we all were born with dreams and plans we try to show in the reality, but not always we are able to make what our soul suggests that we should be bloom.
I drew inspiration from nature realizing a flower-shape installation which could bloom every day revealing within it the delicate meaning of this new video art.
When the petals open, the path of the soul begins.
