THEATRES AROUND THE WORLD: 5 THEATRES TO SEE AT LEAT ONCE IN YOUR LIFETIME
Theatres are the perfect place to discover a territory, because they make you discover the history of a place and do things the locals usually do.
In my opinion, there are some theatres you must see, no matter which show they hold, simply because they’re beautiful.
For your next journey you could choose to admire the world’s most beautiful theatres!
Here is my list of 5 theatres you must see at least once in your lifetime.

OPERA NATIONAL DE PARIS
The Opéra national de Paris was built by Emperor Napoleon III and was inaugurated in 1875.
It’s an imposing and majestic theatre, and every corner, sculpture and stucco was made carefully, but over the time this place has been able to renovate itself.
In fact, the ceiling was painted in 1964 by Marc Chagall.

L’Opéra national de Paris
THE BOLSHOI THEATRE, MOSCOW
Among all the theatres, the Bolshoi theatre is considered the temple of classical ballet. The theatre is depicted on the Russian 100-ruble banknote, and is one of the national symbols of Russia, and during its history the building was destroyed by fire and rebuilt several times.
In fact, during Stalinism decorations and lavish elements (for example stuccos and chandeliers) were removed in order to erase the memory of the Russian Empire.
Now the theatre has gone back to being a neoclassical jewel.

ELGIN AND WINTER GARDEN THEATER, TORONTO
Among all the theatres in the world, this is certainly the most stunning.
The Elgin Theatre consists of two stacked theatres, a feature which makes it the only two-floor theater which is still active.
The Winter Garden, instead, is one of the last surviving Edwardian theatres in the world, and is seven storeys above the Elgin Theatre, and is decorated with hanging gardens and lanterns, which make it a place of times gone by.

THE TEATRO LA FENICE, VENICE
There are several beautiful theatres in Italy, but I decided to put La Fenice on this list, because its name reflects its destiny (The Fenice means The Phoenix).
On January 29th 1996 the theatre, which was built in the 19th century, was destroyed by fire and after a short time it was rebuilt exactly the way it was.
The celebrations for the inauguration of the new and present theatre lasted a week: from December 14th to December 21st 2003, to allow the whole world to admire the rebirth of a landmark of Venice.

Teatro la Fenice , Venezia
THE PALAU DE LA MUSICA CATALANA, BARCELONA
Known as “El Palau”, its construction dates back to the 15th century, and since the beginning it was conceived to be a concert auditorium where to listen any kind of music, from classical to modern, up to the most experimental and innovative music.
The building is a jewel of Catalan Art Noveau, and was declared a National Monument in 1971 and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997.
During daylight hours the Concert hall is illuminated entirely by natural light coming from a central skylight.
