• FROM GESTURE TO FORM
  This exhibition will be an opportunity to view the Schulhof Collection nearly in its entirety with seventy-eight works of art on view. Privileging formal artistic developments, this presentation will provide insights into the art movements and styles that evolved and matured towards the end of World War II through to the 1980s.

CANALETTO AND VENICE

  Eighteenth-century Venice with its lights and shadows unfolds through the rooms of Palazzo Ducale, in the story of an extraordinary century and its protagonist: Giovanni Antonio Canal, Canaletto. This was a period of great complexity and value, of excellence in the fields of painting, sculpture and decorative arts. From its beginning, the eighteenth century showed itself to be a century of enormous vitality and great changes: in the language of art, in the history of ideas and techniques, in social life.

• LETIZIA BATTAGLIA
  A great exhibition by Letizia Battaglia (Palermo, 1935), one of the most significant protagonists of Italian photography, with a great anthology that traces her career.
  The portraits of women, men or animals, or children, are just a few chapters that make up the exhibition; to these are added the photos that describe the city of Palermo, politics, life, death, love.

LA PELLE – LUC TUYMANS
Palazzo Grassi

• LA PELLE – LUC TUYMANS.
  Considered as one of the most influential painters of the international art scene, Luc Tuymans has been dedicating himself to figurative painting since the mid 1980s and has contributed throughout his career to the rebirth of this medium in contemporary art.
  As part of the cycle of monographic shows dedicated to major contemporary artists, launched in 2012 and alternating with thematic exhibitions of the Pinault Collection, Palazzo Grassi presents Luc Tuymans’ first personal exhibition in Italy.

• Leonardo
  A little-known aspect of Leonardo da Vinci will come to light in this exhibition organised to mark the fifth centenary of his death: his work as a cosmetologist and perfumer, dedicated to the creation of fragrances and cosmetics.
  A reconstruction of the lively network of exchanges between the major Renaissance courts enables us to learn of the experiments and recipes for cosmetics that Leonardo shared with the most important female figures of the day.

• Arshile Gorky | 1904-1948
  In May 2019 Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia will present a major exhibition of the work of Arshile Gorky at Ca’ Pesaro, Galleria Internazionale d’Arte Moderna. This will be the first exhibition in Italy of the work of this celebrated and influential figure of 20th-century American art.

• BURRI la pittura, irriducibile presenza
  At the Cini Foundation, 50 works from important Italian and foreign museums, the Burri Foundation and prestigious private collections, reconstruct the art and life of one of the greatest protagonists of Italian and European art of the twentieth century.
  The exhibition shows Burri in Venice, after the memorable personal of 1983 that was a fundamental step in the artist’s career.

• I Fortuny. A family story
  To mark the seventieth anniversary of the death of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, and to coincide with the 58th edition of the Venice Art Biennale, Palazzo Fortuny will pay tribute to the versatile Spanish artist by highlighting the importance of the family context in his artistic development.
  The reference to the Biennale is neither accidental nor out of place, given that a few months after Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo’s death in 1950, a room was dedicated to him in the Spanish Pavilion, where he had held exhibitions on several occasions.

THE 58TH VENICE BIENNALE 2019

• Venice Biennale 2019
  The 58^thInternational Art Exhibition of Venice will run from May 11^thto November 24^th2019.
  As usual, the National Pavilions with their own exhibitions will be on display at the Giardini venue and the Arsenale venue, and collateral events will take place in the historic center of the city, as well.
  Ralph Rugoff will be the curator.

• Il capitano generale da mar e doge Francesco Morosini: figura e gloria al tramonto della Serenissima
  Four hundred years after the birth of Francesco Morosini, dubbed “the Peloponnesiacus” (1619-1694), several Venetian institutions are celebrating this fascinating figure, a doge and admiral. Museo Correr is the major venue since it preserves Morosini’s entire historical heritage from his palace in Campo Santo Stefano, inherited in 1895 by the last heir.

PEGGY GUGGENHEIM. THE LAST DOGARESSA
Peggy Guggenheim Collection

• PEGGY GUGGENHEIM. THE LAST DOGARESSA
  The exhibition will celebrate Peggy Guggenheim’s Venetian life, shedding light on how she significantly continued to add works of art to her collection after her departure from New York, having closed her museum-gallery Art of This Century (1942–47), and having made Venice her home in 1948. The exhibition will present a selection of paintings, sculptures and works of paper that Guggenheim acquired from the late 1940s to 1979.

• The Flemish masters and Venice. The birth of the Baroque of Antwerp
  I Fiamminghi e Venezia is shown thematically in 10 rooms, bringing together some 80 paintings, drawings, engravings, statues, and Venetian and Antwerp glass made à la façon de Venise, mainly loaned by the Royal Museum of Fine Arts and the Rubens House in Antwerp, MUVE, The National Gallery in London, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and MNHA Luxembourg.
