THE LITTLE BIG HEART OF GIOSETTA FIORONI ON SHOW

An exhibition dedicated to Giosetta Fioroni’s little big heart, a tribute to one of the most important living artists of the second half of the Italian 20th century.
An event that traces the artist’s entire career, from the experiences of the 1960s linked to the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo up to the present.

The title of the exhibition is Il piccolo grande cuore di Giosetta (Giosetta’s Little Big Heart) and takes its cue from the autobiography written in 2013 by the artist herself (La mia storia / My Story. Giosetta Fioroni), published by Corraini editore on the occasion of the exhibition that celebrated her in Rome at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea.

The artist’s career spans more than fifty years, and through her works Giosetta Fioroni has portrayed, through Pop Art, the relationships and feelings that unite human beings.
The exhibition, which takes place in La Spezia and is curated by Eleonora Acerbi and Cinzia Compalati, will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 90th birthday of a determined and non-conformist artist.

The exhibition is divided into four rooms on the first floor of the museum: in the first room, research from the 1960s and 1970s; in the second, works from the 1980s and 1990s; in the third, work on ceramics; and in the last, works from 2000 to the present.

The main works include, in addition to Ramo d’oro (Golden Branch), a number of silver cards (Venus, 1968; The Hat, 1966; Liberty in the Stars, 1970), Nudo di Rossana (1965), Il colle dei sette venti (The Hill of the Seven Winds, 1997) and the nucleus of ceramics from the Bottega Gatti in Faenza, including the Dresses inspired by Jane Austen’s heroines (exhibited at GNAM in 2013) and the enamelled majolica dedicated to tales of fairies and distant realms.
