I am thrilled to present a new museum in Naples.
Following the opening to the public in 2021 of the Casa Museo Enrico Caruso, the Museo Caruso at the Palazzo Reale in Naples has now been created. This museum is the first nationwide dedicated to Enrico Caruso, one of the greatest tenors of all time and an outstanding example of Italian artistic genius.
The Museum dedicated to Caruso at the Royal Palace of Naples
Enrico Caruso was one of the first tenors to understand the immense potential of the recording industry, becoming the first singer in the history of world music to exploit it to his own advantage. The Enrico Caruso Museum fills an important gap and strengthens the link between the tenor and his hometown, Naples, offering due recognition to a man who wrote fundamental pages in the development of the entertainment industry and art in all its forms.
THE CARUSO MUSEUM: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE LIFE OF THE GREAT TENOR
The Royal Palace of Naples once again gives voice to our history, culture and art, hosting the Caruso Museum in the monumental Sala Dorica of the Palace and offering an exceptional space for music and culture enthusiasts.
Collaboration with international partners, such as the Ricordi and Puccini Archives, major opera houses and institutes such as MoMA and BFI National Archive, has made it possible to enrich the exhibition with costumes, records, original scores and other testimonies of Caruso’s life and career.
MULTISENSORY EXPERIENCE: STORYTELLING THROUGH IMAGES AND SOUNDS
The exhibition route is designed to immerse visitors in Caruso’s universe.
Multimedia content, 3D animations and musical and film installations create an engaging and exciting experience.
The narration does not merely describe the facts, but captures the atmosphere, contexts and moods related to the events in the great tenor’s life.
The music is the protagonist and allows the audience to fully understand the importance and immortality of Caruso as an artist.
EXPLORING THE CARUSO MUSEUM: THE THEMATIC SECTIONS
The museum is divided into several thematic sections that guide the visitor through the discovery of Caruso’s life and talent.
From ‘Caruso Figlio di Napoli’ (Caruso’s Son of Naples) to ‘Una Voce Senza Fine,’ each section offers an in-depth look at the different facets of the Italian tenor. In addition, the ‘Caruso Stories’ area presents five podcasts that, freely inspired by real events in Caruso’s life, offer an imaginary fresco of that period.

The realisation of the Caruso Museum was made possible thanks to the precious contribution of Luciano Pituello, president of the Associazione Museo Enrico Caruso, Centro Studi Carusiani in Milan. The donor has dedicated much of his life to collecting memorabilia and original engravings, and his gesture represents a generous act of sharing a definitive project on the great tenor.
