The title of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition is “How will we live together?”, chosen by curator Hashim Sarkis who asks architects to imagine and suggest spaces in which we can generously live together.
As usual the Biennale gathers in Venice artists and thinkers, critics and world famous architects causing quarrels, scandals, protests, inspirations.

THE DATES OF BIENNALE ARCHITETTURA 2020 (UPDATE AUGUST 6th 2020)
The Biennale Architettura 2020 will run from May 23rd to November 29th 2020 at the Giardini and at the Arsenale as well as around other venues in Venice.
As usual, the National Pavilions with their own exhibitions will be on display at the Giardini venue and the Arsenale venue and collateral events will take place in the historic center of the city, as well.

WHO THE CURATOR OF BIENNALE ARCHITETTURA 2020 IS
Hashim Sarkis is the curator of Biennale Architettura 2020.
Principal of Hashim Sarkis Studios (HSS), founded in 1998 with offices in Boston and Beirut, since 2015 has been Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
He was member of the International jury of Biennale Architettura 2016 and the firm’s work has been exhibited at the Pavilion of the United States (at Biennale Architettura 2014) and the Pavilion of Albania (at Biennale Architettura 2010). Sarkis earned a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a Master of Architecture and a PhD in Architecture from Harvard University. He is the author and editor of several books on modern architecture history and theory.
THE THEME OF BIENNALE ARCHITETTURA 2020
The title of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition is How will we live together? and is aimed at affirming the role of the architect, which is building spaces where to create an exchange between cultures and generations.
In the context of widening political divides and growing economic inequalities, on the occasion of this Biennale Architettura 2020 architects are asked to imagine spaces in which we can live together.
