Wilhelm Heiliger: Journey into synthesis

Wilhelm Heiliger’s real and yet fantastic works will be exhibited at the  iSculpture Gallery in San Giminiano.
A photographic exhibition in which reality becomes abstraction and the portrayed subject loses its true meaning.

The relationship between shape and colour is the foundation of the history of art.
With artists such as Rothko and Pollock, or even earlier with the Impressionists, we witness the attempt to make colour the true protagonist of the expressive medium, assigning it a central role.
The colour palette is broken down and analysed in the smallest detail, with the aim of generating grace and balance.

In Wilhelm Heiliger’s work photographic detail becomes shape, whereas digital chromatic processing conveys new meanings and suggestions to the image every time.
A roof becomes a dividing line for the blue sky; a shell becomes a flash of light.
Reality becomes abstract and subjective.

LE SCATOLE DEL TEMPO (TIME BOXES) BY ENRICO MARIANI

There are images documenting the present that seem to narrate stories of an undefined future.
Enrico Mariani dedicated to this theme a project entitled Scatole del tempo (Time boxes) that it will be presented in an exhibition from October 13th to 23rd October 2016 (now to 1st November) at the Palazzo Baronale di Calcata (in province of Viterbo, Lazio).

ORLANDO FURIOSO: 500TH ANNIVERSARY OF ARIOSTO’S MASTERPIECE

In 2016 several anniversaries will be celebrated.
The 500th anniversary of the death of Giovanni Bellini will be commemorated, about which I talked on the occasion of the exhibition in Venice of The Drunkenness of Noah, his last masterpiece. But also the 500th anniversary of the first edition of Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso (The Frenzy of Orlando or Raging Orlando) (1516) will be celebrated.

On the occasion of this event, the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara will host the exhibition “ORLANDO FURIOSO 500 ANNI. Cosa vedeva Ariosto quando chiudeva gli occhi” (“ORLANDO FURIOSO 500 YEARS. What did Ariosto see when he closed his eyes”) on view from September 24th 2016 to January 8th 2017.

Since I haven’t seen the exhibition yet, I can’t talk about the works on display, the exhibition set-up, and everything I usually talk about when I suggest you an event you can’t miss.
Instead, I want tell you why this anniversary is so important, and why I put this exhibition on my list of unmissable exhibitions in October.
