Helmut Newton is one of the most controversial photographers in the world.
Around his photos and exhibitions devoted to him, the debate is always heated, because his shots are provocative.

According to some people he was a genius who transformed photography fashion on purpose; according to other people he was a man who hated women and used them to create unacceptable images.
He himself played with the image of the “bad boy” of photography the world ascribed to him.

FINAL PORTRAIT: A MOVIE ABOUT ALBERTO GIACOMETTI

Final portrait is the new movie directed by Stanley Tucci, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “The Lovely Bones” (2009), and is known for his unforgettable performance as “Nigel” in “The Devil wears Prada”.

For his fifth film as a director, Stanley Tucci has chosen to provide a portrait of the artist Alberto Giacometti, drawing inspiration from the book written by the American art critic James Lord, who described 5 weeks he spent in 1964 together with the artist.

The role of Alberto Giacometti is played by Geoffrey Rush (Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in “Shine” in 1997), who steps into the shoes of the artist as if it was the most natural thing in the world; indeed, it feels like he has always been Giacometti, because there’s a close resemblance between the actor and the character he plays.

TRAINS TO VIENNA: HOW TO REACH VIENNA BY TRAIN HAVING A STOPOVER IN VILLACH

Taking one of the trains to Vienna means going through Austria admiring the landscape and enjoying the pleasure of a slow journey.

The Austrian Federal Railways inaugurated the new Railjet “Spirit of Venezia”, which from December 10th 2017 connects directly Venice with Vienna, and allows you to get off at some intermediate stops, as well.

I took part in the Railjet’s maiden voyage!
I departed from Venice and I had a stopover in Villach to visit its Christmas markets.
