If anyone can capture the contradictions of ordinary life, it’s certainly Elliott Erwitt.
Visitors always rush the exhibitions displaying his works, such as the exhibition Icons, of which I showed you some images, and the exhibition Kolor, the first great retrospective exhibition showing colour images arranged in Genoa is a great success, too.

Member since 1953 of the historic Magnum Photos, founded by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa, Elliott Erwitt described the last 60 years of history, by capturing the most tragic but also the funniest aspects of life.

OP ART: FASHION AND ART

I believe that fashion is a social phenomenon, which describes historic events and ideas and expresses fully the period we live in.
In the 1960s Pop Art influenced society and flow of ideas, whereas Op art contaminated fashion.

Optical art developed quickly, and one of the foremost exponents of this artistic movement is Bridget Riley, the first woman to win the International Prize for painting at the 1968 Venice Biennale.
The main area of research of Op art is optical illusion, and it gives the viewers impression of movement.

Photography, cinema and auction in Milan

PHOTOGRAPHY, CINEMA AND AN AUCTION IN MILAN

At 4 pm on Thursday 20April in Milan the spotlight will be on photography with the first away auction of Minerva Auctions.
The catalogue is rich and there are about 200 lots for which the Roman auction house has arranged two exhibitions, too (one in Rome and one in Milan), which will offer everyone the chance to see the photos themselves.

The exhibition in Rome will be open by appointment from April 3rd to 7th, whereas that in Milan will be open to the public from April 18th to 20th (you’ll find the opening times at the end of the post).
