DA VINCI EXPERIENCE: MY FIRST VISIT TO A MULTIMEDIA EXHIBITION. A JOURNEY BETWEEN ART AND TECHNOLOGY
I visited the Da Vinci Experience exhibition, and as soon as I exited I asked myself: what would Leonardo Da Vinci have created today if he had had current technology at his disposal?
He would probably have built spectacular buildings or he would have become an astronaut.
In the year dedicated to the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci (to which I dedicated the post Leonardo da Vinci 500th anniversary: exhibitions, events and new books), I decided to immerse myself in the multimedia itinerary devoted to the artist.
Da Vinci Experience
Da Vinci Experience is an emotional journey through the works, designs, and visions of a man who was not only an artist who devoted himself to many subjects, therefore he must be considered a scholar of the world, first of all.
The heart of the exhibition tour is the immersive area, where spectators are immersed in a tale, 35 minutes long, in the life and works by Leonardo.
The tour of Da Vinci Experience displays also 10 life-size models of Leonardo’ s machines, reproduced on the basis of the artist’ s original designs, including the large bicycle prototype.
And the reproductions of documents and graphic works, together with the 7-minute 3D virtual reality experience with the Oculus, will make you interact with Leonardo’ s inventions, sail on his paddle boat and fly over Renaissance Florence.
DA VINCI EXPERIENCE: TECHNOLOGY
The exhibition, produced by Crossmedia Group, uses MATRIX X DIMENSION® technology, which makes visitors immerse in Leonardo da Vinci’ s work.
35 minutes in which images, lights, colours and music surround the public, giving the illusion of making a journey into the works of the genius.
16 laser projectors project more than 40 million pixels on the surfaces of the set-up, reproducing the images with a resolution higher than Full HD.
DA VINCI EXPERIENCE: MODELS OF LEONARDO’ S MACHINES
The models of Leonardo’ s machines on exhibition at the Da Vinci Experience were made of wood by a group of skilled Italian artisans, by faithfully reproducing Leonardo’ s drawings and Codes.
WHY TO VISIT DA VINCI EXPERIENCE
What impressed me most about Da Vinci Experience?
The union of technology and art, that made me reflect on the fact that a man such as Leonardo would probably be fascinated by what we can make today and how his works can be admired.
This exhibition was the chance for me to enter his works and his visionary world.
It’ s not an exhibition, but an experience.
WHERE TO SEE DA VINCI EXPERIENCE
I visited Da Vinci Experience in Treviso, but the exhibition is on display at the same time in Lima, in Peru, and, in a short time will be on view in other Italian cities and all over the world.
