EXHIBITION BOSCH 2016: VISIONS OF AN ARTIST ON SHOW
Hieronymus Bosch 2016. This year is dedicated to Hieronymus Bosch.
On the occasion of the 5th centenary of the death of the visionary artist (he died in 1516), Europe will celebrate him with exhibitions and conferences.
The first exhibition “Hieronymus Bosch. Visions of Genius” took place at the Noordbrabants Museum from February 13th to May 8th, and presented the most completed monographic exhibition ever arranged on Bosch’s work.
From May 31st until September 11th the Prado Museum in Madrid will house the exhibition “El Bosco: la exposición del centenario”, which will show a group of masterpieces by the artist, including the legendary triptych “The Garden of Earthly Delights”.
Hieronymus Bosch is considered to be a genius, and in his works he painted worlds his contemporaries didn’t believe could exist.
Both exhibitions enabled investigations and researches which cast new light on the life and work of the artist, but especially allowed the restoration of works that, at last, will return to their ancient splendour.
Polish film director Lech Majewski dedicated the first part of a trilogy devoted to art, to Bosch’s “The Garden of Earthly Delights”, Bosch’s most intense and mysterious painting.
The film director, who is also a painter, a composer, and a writer, analysed Bosch’s work in details, in a movie he directed in 2004.

The first part of a series of three movies starts with a love story which draws inspiration from the famous painting by Bosch; goes on with an incredible journey inside Pieter Bruegel’s painting “The Way to Calvary” in the movie “The Mill and the Cross”, and ends with the visionary love story and a reflection on the meaning of life, which draws inspiration from Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, in the movie “Fields of Dogs”.
The common thread of these movies is art, but the themes are life, death, eternity, detachment, sorrow and much more.
The movie dedicated to Bosch’s painting or the box set of the entire trilogy is also available on CG Entertainment, but you can also win it, by taking part in the Contest from June 10th to June 17th 2016 on the Facebook page of the Art post Blog.
