MUSEUMS IN MILAN TO VISIT IF YOU VISIT THE CITY FOR THE FIRST TIME

The Sforza Castle Museums
The Sforza Castle of Milan, since the 14th century up to the present day, has overlooked the city and was also the centre of power. Inside you can admire: the  Rondanini Pietà,  Michelangelo’s last work; the Museum of Furniture and Wooden Sculptures; the Sala delle Asse by Leonardo (but be careful: it is not always opened to the public!) e and also the Pinacoteca.

Brera Art Gallery
There are several and amazing masterpieces to admire inside the Brera Art Gallery and that make this place an unmissable museum in Milan.
Here are the main masterpieces that alone are worth the admission ticket:

Museum of the 20th century
If you love contemporary art this is museum perfect for you, with more than 400 artworks on display and an itinerary dedicated to the major artists of the 20th century: Picasso, Kandinskij, Boccioni, Balla, Carrà, Piero Manzoni and many more.
In addition, from this museum you can admire Piazza Duomo in all its beauty!

The Last Supper
The masterpiece Leonardo da Vinci painted between 1496 and 1498 is located in the refectory of the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie (Holy Mary of Grace). Leonardo depicted the scene of the Last Supper and gave each disciple his own expression and personality, in the crucial moment in which Christ announces that one of them would betray him.

Before visiting the museums in Milan you’d better take the purchase of Milano Card into consideration, which is valid to enter more than 20 museums and tourist attractions.

MUSEUMS IN MILAN TO VISIT IF YOU COME BACK TO VISIT THE CITY AND YOU’RE LOOKING FOR NEW IDEAS

Have you been to Milan and have you visited its main museums, yet?
Here are some ideas to discover the most unusual and charming museums, that in some cases are little known.

Museum of Science and Technology
In this museum both children and science lovers will feel in heaven.
From machines designed and planned by Leonardo da Vinci to telephones, computers and radios of the last century, you can discover the evolution of the human technology.
You can’t miss the old locomotives and ancient horse-drawn trams circulating in the last centuries.

Pinacoteca Ambrosiana
The Ambrosiana houses works by Botticelli, Titian, Caravaggio, Flemish artists and other very important artists.
But the work you can’t miss is a book: the Atlantic Codex by Leonardo da Vinci.

Duomo Museum
This museum illustrates the history of the construction of the Milanese cathedral and houses the most delicate works.
Walking along its rooms you can admire at a short distance the copies of over 300 statues that decorate the Duomo and the sketches of the famous Madonnina, who protects the city form above.
