GIUSEPPE PELIZZA DA VOLPEDO: BIOGRAPHY AND WORKS

Giuseppe Pelizza da Volpedo was born in Volpedo (in the province of Alessandria) in 1868 into a family of small landowners. Since he was a child he showed a special talent for drawing, so he attended some of the best Italian academies.

From Milan (at the Breda Academy he would be a pupil of Francesco Hayez) to Rome, from Florence to Bergamo, up to Genoa, young Giuseppe Pelizza da Volpedo was always unsatisfied with the teachings he got, so his training would be full of changes but also of stimuli which would let him travel across northern Italy. Until he travelled to Paris on the occasion of the Exposition Universelle of 1889.

ARTE CONTEMPORANEA, COSA NE PENSATE ?

“L’arte contemporanea è difficile”, “l’arte contemporanea vuole solo scioccare ma non ha niente da dire”.

Queste sono alcune delle frasi che si sentono più spesso quando si parla di arte contemporanea.
E’ vero che da quando è apparsa sulla scena la Fontana di Duchamp l’arte è cambiata e non è stata più la stessa, ne abbiamo parlato tante volte anche su Facebook.
Con questo post vi voglio proporre una riflessione sul contemporaneo scritta da Alice Traforti, con cui collaboro quando si tratta di arte contemporanea, che aveva già scritto un post per la mostra Flow, arte contemporanea italiana e cinese in dialogo.

Lo scorso marzo è uscito l’ultimo libro di Simona Maggiorelli: Attacco all’arte. La bellezza negata.
Non l’ho ancora letto, spero di farlo prestissimo perché porta nuova linfa a questioni con cui, nel mio piccolo, mi scontro quotidianamente.

Nel frattempo, io e Caterina abbiamo letto un breve estratto (in fondo al post trovi il link) molto denso di spunti che, toccando aspetti diversi, puntano il dito direttamente contro l’arte contemporanea.

KARTELL CELEBRATES THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE COMPONIBILI

Kartell celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Componibili (modular pieces), and I can’t help telling you an all-Italian story which has the charm of the greatest revolutions. A story begun in 1949, and which has led Kartell to be the symbol of Italian design all over the world.

Everything started with a brilliant idea which came to Giulio Castelli, who wanted to introduce plastic to the home, and found in the creative inventions by Anna Castelli Ferrieri the instrument for developing a unique style.
Kartell has faced many challenges and has achieved remarkable success, and all objects which have marked the history of the brand and of design, and which are now on exhibition at the Kartell Museum at the Noviglio headquarters, near Milan, prove that.
Among those historical objects there are the Componibili, which celebrate their 50th anniversary.

LIBRI PER BAMBINI: COME SPIEGARE L’ARTE AI TUOI FIGLI E ANDARE AL MUSEO FELICI

Se hai aperto questo post vuol dire che stai cercando non solo libri per bambini, ma un modo per spiegare l’arte ai tuoi figli e magari insinuargli il sospetto che visitare un museo oppure una mostra potrebbe anche essere divertente.
La verità è che speri prima o poi di passare una domenica al museo piacevole, con la speranza di uscirne fresca come una rosa 😉

Se anche voi, come me, amate l’arte ma il solo pensiero di visitare un museo con i vostri figli vi terrorizza, provate prima a fargli piacere l’arte con i libri per bambini della collana “Arte per crescere”, che fa parte del progetto Creallenamente.
