A FOUNTAIN, DUCHAMP AND THE REVOLUTION OF CONTEMPORARY ART

Marcel Duchamp is mainly connected with the readymades, in other words, with his invention of taking an ordinary object created for a specific purpose and transforming it into a work of art.

Fountain” is one of the first readymades created by Marcel Duchamp in 1917 (the first one was Bicycle Wheel in 1913), and tells us that the eye can interpret an object in different ways, according to how we use it.

WINCKELMANN and the “Unpublished monuments of antiquity”

Johann Joachim Winckelmann was a refined and innovative scholar.
He was one of the greatest classical scholar, theoretician and father of history of art, and this year we’ll celebrate the 300th anniversary of his birth.

In Switzerland (which in 2016 he had celebrated the birth of Dada) will celebrate Winckelmann with an exhibition running from February 5th to May 7th 2017.

In 1968 the Spanish fashion designer Cristobal Balenciaga retired, after making an era in the world of fashion, and creating the contemporary style.
The Balenciaga brand is synonymous with elegance and refinement, but the story that makes more fascinating his dresses and accessories began in 1895 in a Spanish village.
In the art world were the years of post-Impressionism.

The young Cristobal learnt from his mother, who was a seamstress, how to create a dress to make beautiful any woman, by starting creating dresses which wrapped the body like elegant and soft geometry.
