VIVIAN MAIER: PIONEER OF STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

Vivian Maier. Some people were born in the right place at the right time, like Robert Mapplethorpe; other people are in the right place but don’t have the chance to draw attention to themselves; still other people don’t care about the way to draw attention to themselves and their talent is consigned to oblivion.

That was Vivian Maier’s destiny, the American nanny who has fascinated me, but also the world, due to her mysterious story but also because she was, unbeknown to her, the pioneer of street photography.

CALIMERO, COME ERAVAMO (CALIMERO, THE WAY WE WERE)

Calimero was created in Milan in 1963 by the Pagot brothers, Nino and Toni, together with Ignazio Colnaghi, and has become a successful character all over the world and loved by several generations.

THE RENAISSANCE

When people talk about masterpieces of Italian art, they often make reference to the Renaissance as a turning point and the point of reference for the majority of the Western artists.
The Renaissance began in the early 15th century and covered a period of time of two centuries, up to the end of the 16th century, just to make it clear.

The city symbol of the Renaissance is Florence, when in 1401 a competition to build the second door for the Baptistery of the city was announced. Lorenzo Ghiberti was awarded the commission, and in his work he summarized the new Renaissance principles bound revolutionize the destiny of Western art: perspective, proportions and anatomy.
