WHAT TO SEE AT THE BRITISH MUSEUM: ALL THE ARTWORKS YOU CAN’T MISS

What to see at the British Museum. Boasting more than 250 years of history, the British Museum is the second most visited museum in the world (it is on the list of the most visited museums in 2015, as well).
It houses almost 6 million objects, and in this post I’ll briefly tell you the history of the museum, suggesting you the artworks you must see.

The British Museum was founded in 1753, when Sir Hans Sloane, physician, naturalist and collector, left to King George II and to the country a collection featuring more than 70,000 objects, which was opened to the public in 1759.

THE IMPRESSIONISTS: THE DEBUT OF A GROUP OF ARTISTS WHO CHANGED ART HISTORY

Considered to be the founder of Impressionism, Claude Monet is the painter of light, and sometimes I like talking about him in my posts, like when I told you the 5 things to know about Monet, or sharing his works on Facebook.

Impression. Soleil levant. (Impression. Sunrise) is one of Monet’s masterpieces, which, however, didn’t go down in history because it’s beautiful (and it is!), but because it provoked the art critic Louis Leroy to coin the term “Impressionists” in order to define a group of painter who changed forever the course of history of visual arts.

Tellas was born in Cagliari, Sardinia, in 1985, but he currently lives and works in Rome, and he draws inspiration from his native land to transform harsh landscape of Sardinia into poetic artworks.
For the exhibition “Clima Estremo” (“Extreme Weather”) Tellas introduces a new research linked to those extreme weather events attributed to human-induced global warming, responding to the need to return to a more intimate connection with Nature, too.

THE MAYA IN VERONA: THE BEAUTY OF THE MAYA AT THE PALAZZO DELLA GRAN GUARDIA

The Maya in Verona. Who follows me on the social media, especially on Instagram, maybe saw the images of the inauguration of the exhibition devoted to the Maya.
The most beautiful thing of Instagram is the possibility of making videos you can see on Instagram Stories, which allow me to show you the exhibition before its opening, or even during its set-up 😉 .
Some people have already written to me that are going to visit the exhibition very soon, and I hope that I will read soon your opinion about this unique and innovative show, because it illustrates the beauty of the Maya art, giving the public the opportunity to better understand a mysterious people.

It’s neither an exhibition dedicated to the history of the Maya, nor an archaeological exhibition whose finds are displayed in a chronological order. Instead, it’s a journey through the Maya culture in order to narrate a civilization, and its language which is still little-known.
