Andy Warhol’s life is full of moments in which his artistic genius was combined with great entrepreneurial skill.
He was in fact a great anticipatory genius and, in the 1980s, he became a veritable pop-star. His fans would stand in long lines to get their idol to sign Campbell’s soup cans, photographs, posters, magazines, banknotes… anything, once signed by the king of Pop Art, ended up as art.

An ‘iconic’ image of the 20th century, Pietro Annigoni’s Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was commissioned from the Italian artist between 1954 and 1955.
At the time, Elizabeth II was a young queen who had just ascended the throne and the artist was asked to create an official portrait that would describe not so much the person but the queen of an empire.
