TRENTINO: TRENTO AND ROVERETO CITIES OF CULTURE
Trentino. When I think about a summer holiday in the mountains Trentino immediately comes to my mind.
In fact, its green landscapes, its castles and its museums can reinvigorate you, and here you may also find the most beautiful and the most welcoming museums in Italy.
When I went to Rovereto to visit the exhibition at the Mart museum on the Painters of light. From Divisionism to Futurism about which I told you my impressions, I discovered the Trento Rovereto Card, and I bought it.
I had a good experience in Mantua with the MantovaCard, but the card of Trentino will offer you more benefits.
The Trento Rovereto Card includes entrance tickets to a considerable amount of places jumping the queue, and is valid for 48 hours, but you can also extend its validity up to 3 months; in addition, you can extend card benefits, free of charge, to your children under 18 years of age.
READ HERE: the brochure with the list of the participating museums and castles and where you can buy the card (also online).
Here is my itinerary of what you can see in Trentino spending only € 22.
Castello del Buonconsiglio
It’s the biggest and the most important monumental complex in Trentino Alto Adige, and the medieval Tower hosts the Ciclo dei Mesi (Cycle of the Months), a masterpiece of the international Gothic.
MAG, Museo Alto Garda-Galleria Civica Segantini (The MAG, Museo Alto Garda- Segantini City Gallery)
The 17th-century Palazzo dei Panni is the seat of the civic art gallery dedicated to Giovanni Segantini, master of Divisionism and Symbolism, who was born in Trentino, in Arco, in 1858.
Museo dell’Areonautica “Gianni Caproni” (The “Gianni Caproni” Aeronautical Museum)
Founded in 1927, it houses the most ancient museum collection dedicated to aeronautics in the world.
MUSE-Museo delle Scienze (The MUSE-The Science Museum)
The building was designed by Renzo Piano, to illustrate science, and nature, and to examine the central themes of the sustainable development through the use of state-of-the-art technologies.
Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero (The Futurist House of Art Fortunato Depero)
The building was born from the mind of the visionary Futurist artist Fortunato Depero, and it is the only Futurist museum in Italy, and the only museum that illustrates in such a complete way the life and the art of this artist from Trentino (he lived in Rovereto) from his beginnings to his jobs as a designer, as a graphic designer and as an advertiser.
READ ALSO: The list of events in the 2016 summer in Rovereto. Also the Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero in Rovereto will present an exhibition linked to the themes of the exhibition arranged at the Mart Museum.
Mart (The Mart Museum- Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto)
It’s one of the most important museums of contemporary art in Europe. Its collections and its exhibitions illustrate the major artists and artistic movements of the 20th century, through events and workshops suitable for all ages.
Giardino Botanico Alpino e Terrazza delle Stelle (The Alpine Botanical Garden and the Terrace of the Stars)
Founded in the 1930s with the aim of promoting awareness and safeguard of Alpine flora, is one of the oldest Alpine botanical gardens.
Here you can find also the astronomical observatory Terrazza delle Stelle (Terrace of the Stars) from which you can observe the stars accompanied by shows and concerts.
The Trento Rovereto Card
I’ve suggested only one of the itineraries you can follow by using the Trento Rovereto Card, but you can create a lot of personal itineraries, and you may also take the cue from the itinerary to visit Rovereto in two days, suggested by VisitRovereto.
The Trento Rovereto Card includes the unlimited use of urban and inter-city buses, train, cable car, and a reduced-price ticket for your choice of shows, among the two cities’ main festivals and cultural events.
Do you understand why I would suggest a holiday in Trento and in Rovereto?
I’ll be waiting for your comments to know what you think about it, and if you are going to accept my suggestion.
