The Van Gogh Museum was opened in 1973 and contains about 200 paintings, over 500 drawings and watercolors and the many letters that Vincent Van Gogh wrote or received in his life, weaving friendships with the artists of his time and with his brother Theo.
The visit to the museum then becomes not only an itinerary to discover the artist’s works but a journey into the inner world of Van Gogh, which led him to create the works that everyone now knows.
The most important works of Van Gogh are found right in this museum and to find out which ones are truly unmissable I suggest you read the post Van Gogh Museum works: the masterpieces you can’t miss.
The Van Gogh Museum has a path that develops through two buildings and proposes the artist’s works in chronological order, allowing them to traverse all of Vincent’s artistic phases.
The fact that the museum also preserves the personal objects of the painter, such as brushes, tempera, desks and above all letters makes the visit even more exciting.
Finally, the works of the artists who were his friends and with whom Van Gogh always had a complex relationship enrich the visit with interesting ideas.
