WHAT TO DO IN VENICE IN ONE DAY : 3 THINGS TO DO
What to do in Venice in one day ?
Many people ask me that, and they all expect me to say that is not possible, but instead, my answer is always “Yes, you can. You can visit Venice in one day!”
Venice has the bad reputation of being a city crowded with tourists arriving in the morning and leaving at sunset, without really knowing it.
I didn’t write this post to promote this kind of tourism, and for this reason I thought of you who have only one day at your disposal, and I made a list of three things to do to discover the history and beauty of this city.
What to do in Venice in one day
Before starting with the list of three things to do to see Venice in one day, I want to be clear.
In one day you can only have a general idea of what has been Venice over the centuries, and you can’t admire all masterpieces the city preserves.
To understand how many museums and important works of art the city houses, you’d better read the post Things to see in Venice, where you’ll find a summary of all main attractions and most important museums.
However, there are three things to do and that will allow you to discover the best of Venice.
Ready to discover them along with me?
Let’s go!
WHAT TO DO IN VENICE IN ONE DAY: DOGE’S PALACE AND ST. MARK’S BASILICA
What to do in Venice in one day ?
You must see the Doge’s Palace, obviously, and you must admire the mosaics of St. Mark’s Basilica would be a real pity.
They’re two landmarks of the city and you can visit them with a 2-hour guided tour. That’s the perfect solution for those who visit the city in only one day, because it will be an expert guide to show you the most important masterpieces, without wasting time.
WHAT TO DO IN VENICE IN ONE DAY: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLANDS OF THE LAGOON
Murano, Burano and Torcello are the islands which still retain the ancient charm of ancient Venice.
The excursion to the islands of the Venetian Lagoon is maybe the most beautiful experience people who visit Venice for the first time can enjoy, and in four hours you’ll admire Venice from a different point of view.
From Murano glass factories, where glass is still produced with ancient techniques, to the colourful houses of Burano, up to the island of Torcello, everything will leave you speechless.
WHAT TO DO IN VENICE IN ONE DAY: A GONDOLA RIDE
It only takes 30 minutes to take a gondola ride and discover Venice like Giacomo Casanova saw it or to rediscover the landscapes painted by Canaletto.
You can’t leave Venice without going on a gondola ride, and booking this experience will prevent you from paying out much more money.

Malinconica in inverno, terrificante d’estate.
